Big funding news for Cardowan!
We had the absolute pleasure to announce at our recent AGM that Cardowan Commuity Meadow will be supported by the National Lottery Community Action fund over the next three years.
After a rigorous application process, we were awarded £95,060 from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2029. As agreed with the National Lottery team, the funding is restricted to the following:
"Support the operation of The Happy Hub and delivery of a range of community activity. Activities will include a wellbeing group offering arts, crafts and creative opportunities, a carers group, holistic therapy sessions, parent and toddler group, peer support group, health walks, active travel hub, community gardening, environmental volunteering and nature-based activities. The group also deliver respite day trips and community events and celebrations. The project will support physical and mental wellbeing and improve connections within Cardowan, particularly disadvantaged community members. This grant for £95,060 over 3 years will fund sessional staffing costs for a CLD-trained project worker and Active Travel Hub project worker / bike mechanic, materials, delivery costs, therapy costs, workshop costs, refreshments, volunteer travel and training and organisational overheads."
This covers all the existing activities we offer and offers an opportunity for more people to take part. This is an amazing achievement by our volunteers, trustees and project workers.
A heartfelt thanks to all who play the National Lottery and make awards like this possible.
